Is it okay if I show a picture of the nose that I want to have with rhinoplasty?

Answer:

Yes, you can bring a visual image of the nose that you want to have.  It will help the surgeon have an idea of your what shape and size of nose you have in mind.

But the size and shape of the nose will also depend on the size and shape of your face.  There will be computer images of your face with different sizes and shapes of nose that you can choose from.

When I consult, can I see through computer imaging what my nose will look like after the rhinoplasty?

Answer:

Yes.  We have a computer program that lets you see computer images of your face with different sizes and shapes of nose.  This is done after the rhinoplasty surgeon inspected you and checked your face and nose.  Computer imaging is only a computer program.  It is just a way for the rhonoplasty doctor to communicate with you in a visual way what he imagines your nose to be after the operation.  You can comment or request for adjustments.  Computer imaging  will be helpful just to make sure that you and your doctor have the same thing in mind.

Although computer imaging is always done, it is not a guarantee that the nose in the image will be perfectly duplicated by the doctor.

There are pictures of patients showing their nose before and after the rhinoplasty.  Can I talk to them directly?

Answer:

Yes, you can communicate with them and ask them their experience with our rhinoplasty procedure.  You can ask them anything that you might feel ashamed to ask the doctor.  They can share with you what they went through during and after the operation.  You can talk to a patient who had the same case as you. Talk to them directly about their situation, how it was remedied and what they can say about the result of their rhinoplasty.

Why do you take pictures of faces of patients before the operation? Where will you use them?

Answer:

We take preoperative pictures of our patients as a standard procedure.  The pictures will be used for the doctor’s operation plan and procedure.  The doctor can plan ahead of the operation how to shape the nose and how to achieve the shape.  It is also a way to document your progress.
