Rhinoplasty consultation checklist

Rhinoplasty or more commonly known as a nose job is becoming one of the staples in plastic surgery nowadays. Most celebrities have undergone a nose job, whether minor or major like it’s something they do between going to the mall and fetching their kids from school.
But don’t be fooled by its popularity among celebrities and non-celebrities, because rhinoplasty needs a lot of consideration and research before you could decide on it.
So to help you with your decision in undergoing rhiniplasty or nose job, here is a rhinoplasty consultation checklist to help you during—well—your first consultation.
Credentials
The first thing you need to find out about the surgeon are his credentials. There should be no question about it. Finding a credible surgeon will be very helpful to you.
Here are questions for you to ask to your surgeon:
Are you board certified? by what board?
How long have you been practicing plastic surgery?
How long have yo been practicing in this location?
Are you a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery?
Are you a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery?
About rhinoplasty
How long have you been practicing rhinoplasty?
Do you perform “open rhinoplasty” or “closed rhinoplasty”?
Can I see pictures of your previous rhinoplasty patients?
Can I contact these rhinoplasty patients for reference?
How much does rhinoplasty cost?
Does the cost include anesthesia, medications, and the facilities? If not, how much will the additional cost be?
Are there additional fees for the follow-up visits?
About the surgical facilities
Where will the surgery be performed?
Is the surgical facility accredited?
About medications
Are there certain types of medication that could prevent me from getting a nose job?
About the anesthesia
What type of anesthesia will be used?
Who will administer the anesthesia?
Does he/she have credentials?
About the procedure
How long does the surgery take?
How long before the procedure should I arrive?
How long is the recovery time before I can be sent home?
If there are questions that you want to ask but are not listed here, then feel free to ask them to your surgeon. You shouldn’t have second thoughts about asking questions because it’s important that your mind is at ease before your surgery and that you trust your surgeon and his team completely.
