Will it help my over-projected nose if I have a chin implant?
Answer:
The relative size of your chin can help improve the appearance of your nose. If you have an over-projected nose and a small chin, it will help if you have a chin implant. When you have a bigger chin, your nose will look smaller. This will give the illusion that your nose is small.
This is very important and you should discuss this with your rhinoplasty surgeon. The relative sizes of your chin, face and nose take a big part in your appearance. If you have a big nose and a small chin, the nose looks bigger than when you have the same nose but bigger chin. If you have an over-projected nose, your surgeon might advise that you have a nose reduction and a chin implant to achieve a balance.
When you have a big nose, your rhinoplasty surgeon will surely advise you to reduce it so that it will achieve a balance with your face. After the reduction, many patients find that they don’t need to have chin implants. You can use computer imaging to help you make the decision on whether to have a chin implant or not.
If you fix a long nose through rhinoplasty, will the nose appearance change both from the front and from the side?
Answer:
Yes, after a rhinoplasty, a long nose will appear shorter from front and straighter less dangling from the side.
There are many patients who have long nose who tell us that they like their nose from the front view. They just want to improve on their nose from the side view, make it appear less droopy. When we put our patients under rhinoplasty, we make sure we preserve the beautiful features of our patients’ nose and change only those features that need improvement.
